Work in high street pharmacy can feel relentless: queues build, phones ring, prescriptions need checking, patients arrive worried or frustrated, and interruptions often come before a task is finished. This course introduces simple mindfulness techniques that help you pause, regain focus, and respond more steadily under pressure. It is not about switching off or denying stress; it is about noticing what is happening in the moment without being carried away by it.

This course is for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, dispensers, medicines counter staff, delivery staff, managers, locums and other high street pharmacy team members. It is framed mainly around Great Britain professional standards and UK/England-facing NHS and workplace stress guidance. Support routes differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, so follow local employer policy, local services and national pathways where relevant.

This course does not train staff to deliver clinical mindfulness therapy. Instead, it introduces brief, practical mindfulness-informed techniques to reduce stress, improve attention, support calmer patient conversations and help recovery between demanding moments.

Why This Course Matters

  • Pressure can accumulate unnoticed: tension often builds through the day until concentration, patience or communication begin to slip.
  • Mindfulness creates small pauses: a few slower breaths or a quick body check-in can interrupt escalation and restore clarity.
  • Presence supports safe care: staying attentive helps with patient care, team communication and accurate decision-making.
  • Short practices are practical: brief exercises can fit into a busy pharmacy shift and still be effective.

How This Course Will Help You

After completing the course you should be able to describe practical mindfulness, use mindful breathing and brief body scans to reduce stress, apply focused attention during patient and team interactions, and build a simple routine to support resilience across the working day.
