• The primary target is I 2.1: Explain the responsibilities and limitations of delegating to other members of the dental team.
• The course sits in the GDC Safe Practitioner Framework domain of Interpersonal Skills, sub domain Teamwork and Wellbeing of Others.
• Linked behaviour I(B)6: Where appropriate manage and refer/delegate work according to the scope of practice of members of the dental team, in line with competence and professional practice.

• Dental nurses should communicate with care, compassion, empathy and respect in patient, public and team interactions.
• Communication must be clear, confidential and accessible; it should reflect the limits of each team member's scope of practice and include handover where required.
• Team working depends on role clarity, mutual respect, constructive feedback, recognised delegation limits and clear routes for raising concerns.
• Use factual language: pause, clarify, ask, hand over, record, give feedback, refer or escalate as appropriate.
• Public and social media posts can affect confidentiality, public trust and professional standards and should be managed accordingly.
