Exam Pass Notes

SPF P 1.10: key points
- Professional attitudes include respect, integrity, accountability, reliability, kindness, self-awareness and patient-centred judgement.
- GDC Principle 9 requires conduct in work and personal life that maintains patient and public trust.
- Professional behaviour applies in all settings: clinical areas, reception, training, community work, public spaces, workplace events and online.
- Social media covers public platforms, private groups, professional forums, messaging apps, blogs and content communities.
- Professional standards are the same online as in face-to-face interactions.
- Do not post identifiable patient information, images, stories or comments without valid consent and authorisation.
- Privacy settings and pseudonyms are not foolproof; screenshots and shares can spread content widely.
- Do not cyberbully, intimidate, discriminate, mock patients or make derogatory comments about colleagues.
- Practice advertising and online content must be legal, decent, honest, truthful and not misleading.
- If behaviour or media content harms trust, act promptly: preserve evidence where needed, report through the correct channels and use the situation for learning.
Exam memory line: before speaking, posting or sharing, ask whether it protects dignity, confidentiality, boundaries and public trust.
