• Dental nurses should link self-management to patient safety, scope of practice, clear communication, accurate records, feedback, CPD, reflection and escalation when required.
• Insight, learning and wellbeing are professional responsibilities. Persistent unsafe systems should be raised through the correct channels.
• Use clear, factual language: pause, clarify, seek advice, hand over, record, report, reflect or escalate as appropriate.
• Plan, record and review personal development rather than leaving it as informal intention.
• Keep reflection confidential, proportionate and focused on learning and safer future practice.
