- Dental nurses should link self-management to patient safety, scope of practice, communication, record keeping, feedback, CPD, reflection and escalation.
- Maintaining insight, learning from experience and supporting wellbeing are professional responsibilities; however, unsafe systems must still be raised through the correct channels.
- When using factual language: pause, clarify, seek advice, hand over, record, report, reflect or escalate as appropriate.
- Plan, record and review personal development rather than leaving it informal.
- Keep reflection confidential, proportionate and focused on learning and safer future practice.
