Welcome

Safeguarding is part of everyday dental nursing. Concerns can arise during chairside care, at reception, when updating medical histories, after missed appointments, in a private conversation, or from subtle changes in a patient's behaviour.
This Level 2 course is for dental nurses. It covers recognising possible abuse or neglect, responding safely to disclosures, recording concerns, using the safeguarding lead and local referral routes, and speaking up when a concern might be missed.
Why This Course Matters
Dental teams treat children, parents, carers, older adults and people with disabilities, and may see patients who are under pressure from others. Dental nurses are often the team members most likely to notice signs of distress, hear a quiet disclosure, or recognise that an explanation does not match the presentation.
How This Course Will Help You
You will review child and adult safeguarding, domestic abuse, exploitation, recognising immediate risk, making referrals, sharing information, assessing capacity, keeping records, and raising professional concerns. The course focuses on practical actions: what to notice, how to respond, who to tell, and how to protect a patient's safety and dignity.
