Scenario 7: Clinician Under Pressure

Scenario

You are working in a busy clinic where multiple appointments have overrun. The waiting room is full and noisy; patients are becoming visibly frustrated and some are talking about delays. You feel the pressure to move quickly through examinations to catch up, fingers tapping the desk and the clinic list running through your mind. A patient steps into the consulting room already irritable about the waiting time, arms folded and voice tight.

How should you maintain compassionate communication despite stress and time constraints?

Scenario 8: Colleague Interaction

Scenario

In the dispensing area, you notice a colleague responding curtly to a patient who is struggling to understand aftercare instructions. The patient appears embarrassed, avoiding eye contact and withdrawing slightly, while other staff continue with their tasks. You step closer, aware that the interaction could affect the patient's dignity and adherence to treatment, and consider how to support both the patient and your colleague without escalating the situation.

How should you respond to support both the patient and your colleague in a compassionate, professional manner?
