Welcome

Optical practice course visual for Sexual Harassment

Welcome to Sexual Harassment in Optical Practice.

This course is for optical assistants, reception and admin staff, retail and dispensing support staff, clinical staff, managers, locums, students, contractors and temporary staff working in optical settings.

Optical practice involves close contact, public-facing work and team interactions. Staff work in small teams, busy retail areas, consulting rooms, pre-screening spaces, domiciliary settings, online channels and work chat groups. Sexual harassment can occur in any of these environments.

The course is practical: recognise behaviour that crosses boundaries, respond safely, record factual details, report concerns and help maintain a workplace culture where harassment is not dismissed as banter, customer service or part of the job.

Use this learner spine throughout the course: Notice, Name, Make safe, Record, Report, Support, Learn.
